Executive Profile

Prof. Dauda B. Bawa assumed office as Director of the TETFund Centre of Excellence in Food Security in April 2025. Since assumption of duty, he has led a structured institutional repositioning process focused on strengthening research capacity, infrastructure readiness, postgraduate programme development, enterprise sustainability, and strategic partnerships. Under his leadership, the Centre has expanded scientific staffing, strengthened documentation and performance tracking systems, activated enterprise-driven agricultural initiatives, enhanced infrastructure utilization, and aligned operations with TETFund Monitoring and Evaluation expectations.

His leadership approach emphasizes accountability, measurable impact, interdisciplinary collaboration, and long-term institutional sustainability.

Dr. Deshi Kyenpiya Eunice

Dr. Deshi Kyenpiya Eunice is a Reader in Plant Science and Biotechnology at the University of Jos, with expertise in seed science, plant physiology, and sustainable crop systems. Trained internationally in seed potato technology and post-harvest management, she leads innovation, enterprise development, and commercialization initiatives within the Centre, strengthening value addition and agribusiness integration.

Prof. Uchele Okpanachi

Prof. Uchele Okpanachi is a Professor of Animal Science specializing in ruminant nutrition and sustainable livestock production. With extensive academic leadership experience and over 80 scholarly publications, he coordinates research delivery, postgraduate supervision, and capacity-building programmes, ensuring alignment with TETFund performance standards and institutional priorities.

Multidisciplinary research capacity

The Centre is supported by a multidisciplinary Scientific Team drawn from diverse academic fields including agricultural economics, animal production, crop science, veterinary medicine, plant biotechnology, geography, sociology, and communication. Over twenty Scientific Team members were appointed to strengthen research delivery and postgraduate supervision across the Centre's thematic focus areas.
